The current research was conducted with the aim of developing and validating a framework for designing and producing e-textbooks. To achieve this goal, a mixed method in a type of the exploratory was used.by using qualitative content analysis in a type of inductive method, the components and indicators of e-textbooks was extracted .The statistical population of the research in the qualitative part was Persian and English researches conducted on e-textbooks . Using the purposeful sampling method, 41 research results selected and analyzed by thematic analysis method to extract components and indicators. After the making some necessary corrections, the proposed framework under the title “A Framework for designing and producing academic e-textbooks" was developed. Then, in the quantitative part, for the internal validation of the proposed framework, the Framework schematic and related explanations were given to a 30 number of educational technology and e-learning experts, academic textbooks experts, and electronic publishing experts. Based on qualitative results, for designing and producing e-textbook, a framework consisting of four main components under the headings of content, educational, technological, and electronic publishing components, and 38 micro components were obtained. The results of the internal validation of the framework based on the opinions of experts that done by using one-sample T-tests, content validity index, and content ratio, and carried out by SPSS version 22 software, showed that the proposed framework has high validity. Therefore, the proposed framework resulting from this research can be used as a practical guide for the design and production of academic e-textbooks.
